Twice a year, the antique market in Parma is held for 10 days in March and in October. Vendors travel from across all regions of Italy and several other European countries to form one of the largest treasure hunts in Europe. Don't let the long name scare you off, Mercanteinfiera, when dissected mercante-in-fiera translates as "merchants in a fair/market".

Svein and I set off looking for a couple items to complete our already furnished apartment. We need a very small table or two to set a drink on in the livingroom and eventually an armoire to convert into a coat closet. No armoires to be had here on this visit unfortunately, but they certainly did have enough to get a girl into trouble!

There is a ton of competition in the vintage couture space. I have a feeling a "girls weekend" might get dangerous! 🤣👜

We looked at these pieces. They were both beautiful, but not quite what we were looking for. To give you an idea of the pricing the left one was €1600 and the right was €800. Both were in excellent condition.

I would love, one day, to have an elaborate multi-room kitchen with a pasta making room and meat slicing room. I would do the hand-cranked version like the ones in the front. Bellissime! A girl can dream!
We are in Italy after all and it's time for PRANZO!

Not only are we in Italy, but we are in Emilia-Romagna, in Parma and home to the prosciutto and parmigiano of its namesake so lunch is a big deal and there's not an empty seat to be had at 13:00. Lambrusco wine is flowing!

Practical Info:
It's all indoor over multiple exhibit halls (weather not an issue)
There are 9000 parking spaces (not an issue either)
Bathrooms are plentiful and continually cleaned (fear not!)
