Established in 1919 by Mario Buccellati, the company remains a creative passion for his family, now spanning the 3rd and 4th generations. This year, a unique exhibition titled The Prince of Goldsmiths took place in the Giudecca area of Venice to honor the artistic legacy of the maison across generations. While new designs have been introduced to appeal to a contemporary clientele, the craftsmanship and traditions continue to be inspired by Mario's original vision, the delicate lace of Burano.
Delicate butterflies adorned the first room, a tradition revered by each succeeding generation.
The artistry that goes into early cigarette cases and cocktail bags is astounding.
Silver tablescapes celebrate the bounties of Earth and sea.
The final room is an interactive extravaganza celebrating the various collections of Buccellati.
Gorgeous bobbles appear to be suspended in air.
The exhibition effectively showcased the superiority of artisanal craftsmanship compared to machine-made products. I am pleased to see that the tradition of skilled artisans passing down their expertise from one generation to the next is still thriving!
