If you're looking for a great stay in hills of Tuscany, look no further than Castelfalfi. It's a Tuscan resort and borgo, village, south of Florence and a 30 minute drive from the multi-towered town of San Gimignano. Yet, San Gimi it is not, Castalfalfi is a world away from the flip flop wearing tourist crowds ticking off hill towns faster than you can watch their Instagram reels.

Rooms

We utilized our bi-annual AMEX credit to make the booking, which provided us with an upgrade, a $100 credit, and some welcome treats. The panoramic views from our room were breathtaking, particularly at sunset. Castalfalfi has been awarded 2 Michelin keys, out of a maximum of 3, just like the Michelin stars.
Grounds

Art pieces were scattered along the walking paths, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Being off-season, the second outdoor pool and bar had just closed for the season, although they appeared inviting behind the locked gate.
Dining
We grabbed a quick snack at the bar for lunch. For dinner, we had several choices and opted for the main restaurant, Olivina. They focus on using produce from their garden and local farmers. The meal was good, albeit not unforgettable, and certainly convenient!
Spa

Although Svein and I seldom spend much time at spa facilities, Castalfalfi was a notable exception. The heated indoor/outdoor pool provided a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the Tuscan landscape. There were different stations within the pool for zero gravity, lymphatic drainage or simply for a relaxing massage from neck to toe, all while appreciating the Tuscan views.
The borgo

The borgo was picturesque and well-maintained, offering a quaint appearance, but it only consisted of a few shops and a winery. Since all these are owned by Castelfalfi, those in search of authentic Italy should explore further afield.
Castalfalfi makes a great stay to enjoy the Tuscan country side while visiting its villages.
